Waiheke is excited to announce its participation in the European Union’s AI Pact, joining a select group of 28 small companies committed to pioneering responsible AI practices. This initiative, which currently includes 114 signatories from diverse sectors such as telecom, healthcare, automotive, and banking, aims to encourage early compliance with the forthcoming AI Act and promote ethical AI development across the industry.
The AI Act, which took effect on August 1, 2024, introduces new regulations for high-risk AI systems, with many provisions set to become mandatory after a transitional period. By signing the AI Pact, Waiheke is taking proactive steps to align with these standards ahead of schedule. The company has pledged to adopt a robust AI governance strategy, map high-risk AI systems, and promote AI literacy among employees, ensuring responsible AI use throughout the organization.
As one of the 28 small companies participating in this initiative, Waiheke is part of a unique group contributing to the development of a safe and transparent AI ecosystem. The company will collaborate with other signatories, including 75 large and 11 medium-sized enterprises, to share best practices and insights. This collective effort supports the creation of an ethical AI landscape and helps shape the future of AI regulation in Europe and beyond.
Waiheke’s involvement in the AI Pact not only reaffirms its commitment to ethical AI but also positions it as a leader in responsible technology adoption. By actively participating in this initiative, Waiheke is preparing for the future regulatory environment while continuing to innovate and expand its AI-driven learning and career coaching platform.
